What We Do
There are a lot of fabulous chiropractors in the Red Wing and Lake City area, and throughout Minnesota, so we’d love to tell you a little about what Dr. Kaitlin Lystad and Dr. Ryan Lystad of Innovative Chiropractic do to help you find the right fit for you. Our proficiency in such sought after techniques as Network Spinal Analysis, Pediatric Chiropractic, Webster Technique, the Graston Technique, and much more put us in high demand in the community.
What does Dr. Kaitlin Lystad do?
Dr. Kaitlin utilizes a different approach to adjusting the spine than what most people think about when they find out she is a chiropractor. She has advanced training in Network Spinal Analysis and Pediatrics (through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, ICPA). Some other techniques she chooses to use when are needed are Webster, Toggle, Sustained Contact, Activator, and Thompson. Her main focus is on the person’s nervous system integrity and how to allow fully functioning neurology. Below is more information about the distinctive approach she has to adjusting someone’s spine.
Network Spinal Analysis™ is an evidenced-based approach to wellness and body awareness. Gentle precise touch to the spine cues the brain to create new wellness promoting strategies. Two unique healing waves develop with this work. They are associated with spontaneous release of spinal and life tensions, and the use of existing tension as fuel for spinal re-organization and enhanced wellness. Practitioners combine their clinical assessments of spinal refinements with patients’ self-assessments of wellness and life changes. NSA is exclusively practiced by Doctors of Chiropractic in relationship to the identification and self regulation of spinal tension and subluxation patterns.
Some of the benefits enjoyed by people under Network Spinal Analysis care include:
- Spinal and Joint realignment
- Improved Physical State
- Development of a strong central nervous system leading to enhanced overall systemic function
- Make Healthier choices
- Improved Adaptability to stress
- Reduces stress levels and promotes emotional well-being and quality of life.
Pediatrics & Webster Technique
Adjusting a pediatric spine takes a lot of skill, discipline, and finesse. Other than the obvious fact that their spines are much smaller than adult spines, children are much more active than adults. Their bodies are rapidly changing and growing. Dr. Kaitlin decided to take additional courses in Pediatric adjusting, not only in her curriculum at Life University, but also through the ICPA. She is very close to completing her certification from the ICPA in Pediatric adjusting. Through the ICPA she has learned techniques that have helped her smaller patient’s with:
- Ear Infections
- Growing Pains
- Constipation & Colic
- Sleeping Problems
- Torticollis (musculature)
Dr. Kaitlin is certified in Webster Technique. Webster Technique is a way of assessing the alignment of the pelvis. When the pelvis is in the correct position, the uterus can be in the correct position allowing the baby to use gravity and be head down in the vertex position, ready to be born. By adjusting any misalignments found in the pelvis the uterus can be at its optimal shape. The baby is not adjusted or moved by the chiropractor.
Dr. Kaitlin uses neurology exercises to strengthen your brain communication between the two hemispheres and the individual brain hemispheres themselves. These exercises have been shown to help with sensory processing disorders. Dr. Kaitlin uses these frequently to help connect and balance the brain.
What does Dr. Ryan Lystad do?
Dr. Lystad uses a wide range of adjusting techniques. His philosophy is anything to get the patient better and functioning at their optimal level. Some of the named techniques he utilizes are Diversified, Thompson, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Activator and Toggle. His focus is to bring you the best chiropractic care employing the technique that fits your needs and spine. Some of the “extras” that he utilizes are listed below with more description on what they are and how Dr. Lystad is unique in his approach.
At Innovative Chiropractic Center, Dr. Lystad utilizes stainless steel instruments to comb over and “catch” on fibrotic tissue, which immediately identifies areas of restriction. The instruments enable the doctor to treat soft tissue lesions with depth, pressure, and specificity necessary to affect the condition at the site of pain as well as following the kinetic chain to find and treat the cause.
Once the tissue dysfunction has been identified, the instruments break up the scar tissue so it can be adsorbed by the body.
“Graston Technique is Clinically Proven to Achieve Quicker and Better Outcomes in Treating:”
- Achilles Tendinosis/itis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Tennis Elbow
- Golfers Elbow
- Patellofemoral Disorders (knee pain)
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Rotator Cuff Tendinosis/itis
- Shin Splints
- Cervicogenic Headaches
Kinesiology Taping is a specialized non-traditional taping method. The tape allows you to move freely compared to traditional white tape that restricts your motion and is uncomfortable to wear. Kinesiology taping allows for motion and sometimes you don’t even know it is there.
Dr. Lystad utilizes this taping technique for the following:
- Support of the muscles and enhancing the ability for the muscle to work properly
- Helps blood and lymphatic circulation and reduces inflammation
- Can help as a pain reliever
- Helps with joint dysfunction
Pre-hab & Rehab Exercises
Dr. Lystad requires an effort on the part of his patients. He advises pre-hab and rehab exercises for patient’s to activate certain areas that might have caused dysfunction or can possibly cause dysfunction. These exercises are a foundational part of your healing in this office.
He believes that there are three parts to getting his patients better:
- His effort and knowledge on your treating your specific complaint. He will give 100% every time.
- Your bodies ability to heal. This will be 100% all the time.
- You, the patient must give 100% including your commitment to follow through with exercises and the care plans discussed by Dr. Lystad.
